Thanks for the comments Dennis. I tried to stick to the leadership aspect of this but as a Razorback fan it was very disappointing. Take care, Greg

I agree Janet. Thanks for the comments. Although I've never been prouder to be a Razorback fan, I still hurt for the entire Petrino family. The family and fans didn't deserve this. Take care, Greg

Greg,
Thanks so much for your comments. The first thing I told my husband after hearing about Mr. Petrino's termination is that I was extremely proud of the folks at the University of Arkansas. I currently teach in a public high school. I see the double standards between sports and academics on a daily basis. The blame lies not on my administration, school board members, or the coaches; the blame lies on society. We, as a whole, have idolized sports for ages, and sports programs used to have integrity. In fact, it hasn't been that long ago that I played. My coach had moral standards, and if his players failed to meet those standards, they didn't play. It was that simple. Today, "good" players and coaches typically get away with just about anything, and society forgives--notice I said "good". I mean Mr. Petrino no ill will; it was just refreshing to see that some academic institutions still have standards.

Thank you Trey. I hate that we had to go through this but what a leadership lesson. Andy's book would change many thought processes on this. Thanks for your comment. Greg

Well said, Greg! I came over here from Andy Andrew's letter in which he mentions this blog post. You are spot on! Razorback fans have reason to be proud of Jeff Long's unwillingness to place one man above the program! I wish Coach Petrino well in his effort to repair the damage done in his family, and I hope the next Arkansas head coach will embrace the high standards Mr. Long has set for the Razorback football program.
